Sundays are for carpet washing! I helped my dad clean 3 rugs that we recently found. One of these is a brightly colored Ardebil. Here are some pictures I took during the cleaning process. Washing these rugs is rigorous but rewarding, considering how beautiful they are.

We used a vaccuum, cold water, Tide, a scrubby brush, and a squeegee (which broke). It takes about 3 soaks and squeegees to fully remove the dust and dirt.

Ardebil rugs are known for “triple amulet/medallion design with stylized tree and rosette border” (Lee Allane).

I really like the animals on this rug, which include peacocks, dogs, rabbits and canaries. The second to last photo shows the symmetry. The red rug alongside it is a Bidjar.
